I have downloaded many movies and games before and I have burned them just fine. I use alcohol dvd shrink dvd decrpyter nero and my problem is that out of nowhere I can't burn to dvd without it stopping and saying there is a problem burning. I took my pc in for repair and was told my dvd burner is fine. I sent a report to alcohol tech and was told they could not help me because the content could possibly be illegal download..( DUMB ME!!) I have been downloading and burning for a few years with no probs. I tried again today to (back up a game) and it did the same thing.I feel paranoid in asking but could microsoft have done something to prevent me from burning. I can burn my pics and my songs but not the movies or games. If I am posting the wrong way please advise me. Don't want to do anything wrong. I just tried to burn with shrink and this is what was on the log Windows XP 5.1 IA32 WinAspi: - ahead WinASPI: File 'C:\Program Files\Ahead\Nero\Wnaspi32.dll': Ver=2.0.1.59, size=160016 bytes, created 12/16/2003 7:18:06 PM Nero API version: 6.3.1.17 Using interface version: 6.3.1.4 Installed in: C:\Program Files\Ahead\Nero\ Application: ahead\Nero - Burning Rom Recorder: <HP DVD Writer 640b> Version: E152 - HA 0 TA 0 - 6.3.1.17 Adapter driver: <atapi> HA 0 Drive buffer : 2048kB Bus Type : via Inquiry data (1) -> ATAPI, detected: ATAPI Connected to MMC as unknown drive with class-nr : 11 Drive is autodetected - recorder class: DVD+R9 DL recorder === Scsi-Device-Map === CdRomPeripheral : HP DVD Writer 640b atapi Port 0 ID 0 DMA: Off CdRomPeripheral : ASUS CD-S480/A5 atapi Port 0 ID 1 DMA: On DiskPeripheral : WDC WD2500KS-00MJB0 atapi Port 1 ID 0 DMA: On CdRomPeripheral : GV2030Y BHG088L 2.0B vaxscsi Port 3 ID 0 DMA: Off === CDRom-Device-Map === HP DVD Writer 640b E: CDRom0 ASUS CD-S480/A5 F: CDRom1 GV2030Y BHG088L K: CDRom2 ======================= AutoRun : 1 Excluded drive IDs: WriteBufferSize: 83886080 (0) Byte ShowDrvBufStat : 0 BUFE : 0 Physical memory : 1023MB (1047852kB) Free physical memory: 400MB (410176kB) Memory in use : 60 % Uncached PFiles: 0x0 Use Static Write Speed Table: 0 Use Inquiry : 1 Global Bus Type: default (0) Check supported media : Disabled (0) 17.1.2007 NeroAPI 1:44:08 PM #1 Phase 112 File APIProgress.cpp, Line 273 DVD-Video files reallocation started 1:44:08 PM #2 Phase 114 File APIProgress.cpp, Line 273 DVD-Video files reallocation completed (no file modified) 1:44:08 PM #3 Phase 111 File APIProgress.cpp, Line 273 DVD-Video files sorted 1:44:08 PM #4 Text 0 File Reader.cpp, Line 118 Reader running 1:44:08 PM #5 Text 0 File Writer.cpp, Line 124 Writer HP DVD Writer 640b running 1:44:08 PM #6 Text 0 File AudioCompilationImpl.cpp, Line 817 DRM: StartDrmRecording(RealRec:1, ImageRec:0, Copies:1) DRM: Beginning burn process. 1:44:08 PM #7 ISO9660GEN -11 File geniso.cpp, Line 3899 First writeable address = 0 (0x00000000) 1:44:08 PM #8 ISO9660GEN -11 File geniso.cpp, Line 3899 First writeable address = 0 (0x00000000) 1:44:08 PM #9 Text 0 File Burncd.cpp, Line 3172 Turn on Disc-At-Once, using DVD media 1:44:08 PM #10 Text 0 File DlgWaitCD.cpp, Line 245 Last possible write address on media: 2295103 (510:01.28, 4482MB) Last address to be written: 1995343 (443:24.43, 3897MB) 1:44:08 PM #11 Text 0 File DlgWaitCD.cpp, Line 257 Write in overburning mode: NO 1:44:08 PM #12 Text 0 File DlgWaitCD.cpp, Line 2137 Recorder: HP DVD Writer 640b, Media type: DVD+R Disc Manufacturer ID: INFOME, Media Type ID: R20, Product revision number: 0 Disc Application Code: 0, Extended Information Indicators: 3 1:44:08 PM #13 Text 0 File DlgWaitCD.cpp, Line 418 >>> Protocol of DlgWaitCD activities: <<< ========================================= 1:44:08 PM #14 Text 0 File ThreadedTransferInterface.cpp, Line 813 Setup items (after recorder preparation) 0: TRM_DATA_MODE1 (CTransferItem) 2 indices, index0 (150) not provided original disc pos #0 + 1995344 (1995344) = #1995344/443:24.44 relocatable, disc pos for caching/writing not required/required, no patch infos -> TRM_DATA_MODE1, 2048, config 0, wanted index0 0 blocks, length 1995344 blocks [HP DVD Writer 640b ] -------------------------------------------------------------- 1:44:08 PM #15 Text 0 File ThreadedTransferInterface.cpp, Line 984 Prepare recorder [HP DVD Writer 640b ] for write in CUE-sheet-DAO DAO infos: ========== MCN: "" TOCType: 0x00; We will need allot more information then what you have provided. What type of movie files are you downloading? (Xvid/DivX/ISO/IMG/VIDEO_TS AUDIO_TS FOLDERS) What platform of games are you downloading? (PC/Game Cube/Xbox/Xbox360/PS2/PSP/PS3) When trying to burn these files what programs are you specifically trying to use to burn them and what steps are you doing to accomplish this. When you get the error message what is the message it is giving you? What type of Media are you using? (Manufactures ID#) You can get that with DVD Decrypter. Put in a blank DVD and look at the below image to find out what the Manufactures code is... What is the rated speed of the media and how fast are you burning them? Are you multitasking during burning or transcoding/encoding/converting? As you can see your question is a very broad question and needs to be more specific if you want to get the help that you need.
It looks like your DVD burner drive has feel into PIO mode and needs to be reset to DMA:ON Below is a link that shows you how to do this... http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/260038
OMG!! Very cool. It worked !! I have had this problem for about 2 mths I was going to try and restore to original factory stat. But decided to try once again on the internet. I looked up this part of the report Registry Keys: HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\WinLogon\AllocateCDROMs : 0 (Security Option) and I got a link to the page you directed me and I thought it could not be it because it use to work just fine. Since you directed me there I read further and I now know it can rest itself. I would like to thank you SO much. I will be around checking the site in the future. Be well!
