I have downloaded many movies and games before and I have burned them just fine. I use alcohol dvd shrink dvd decrpyter nero and my problem is that out of nowhere I can't burn to dvd without it stopping and saying there is a problem burning. I took my pc in for repair and was told my dvd burner is fine. I sent a report to alcohol tech and was told they could not help me because the content could possibly be illegal download..( DUMB ME!!) I have been downloading and burning for a few years with no probs. I tried again today to (back up a game) and it did the same thing.I feel paranoid in asking but could microsoft have done something to prevent me from burning. I can burn my pics and my songs but not the movies or games. If I am posting the wrong way please advise me. Don't want to do anything wrong.
I just tried to burn with shrink and this is what was on the log

We will need allot more information then what you have provided.

What type of movie files are you downloading? (Xvid/DivX/ISO/IMG/VIDEO_TS AUDIO_TS FOLDERS)

What platform of games are you downloading? (PC/Game Cube/Xbox/Xbox360/PS2/PSP/PS3)

When trying to burn these files what programs are you specifically trying to use to burn them and what steps are you doing to accomplish this.

When you get the error message what is the message it is giving you?

What type of Media are you using? (Manufactures ID#) You can get that with DVD Decrypter. Put in a blank DVD and look at the below image to find out what the Manufactures code is...

What is the rated speed of the media and how fast are you burning them?

Are you multitasking during burning or transcoding/encoding/converting?

As you can see your question is a very broad question and needs to be more specific if you want to get the help that you need.

It looks like your DVD burner drive has feel into PIO mode and needs to be reset to DMA:ON

Below is a link that shows you how to do this...

OMG!! Very cool. It worked !! I have had this problem for about 2 mths I was going to try and restore to original factory stat. But decided to try once again on the internet. I looked up this part of the report
    Registry Keys:
    HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\WinLogon\AllocateCDROMs : 0 (Security Option)
and I got a link to the page you directed me and I thought it could not be it because it use to work just fine. Since you directed me there I read further and I now know it can rest itself. I would like to thank you SO much. I will be around checking the site in the future. Be well!
