Probably caused by the AVI file having higher bitrate than your CD-ROM can read. Try viewing the file from your hard drive. If the problem disappears, then your CD-ROM has too low read-rate.

    Solution: either
    a) re-encode the file with a lower bitrate, or
    b) buy a better CD-ROM drive.

    I recommend b).

I'm having the exact same problem with a divx AVI that I burned. But my cd-rom drive is brand new and reads at 52x...why can't it play the movie? And how would i re-encode the movie with a lower bitrate?

n/m i fixed it, all i had to do was burn at a lower speed: i did it at 8x. it might work at a faster speed but my first try at 48x didn't work so try 4x or 8x to be safe.
