cd rom problems

    My harddrive is set to master

    and it says an unknown device is set to slave. which is most likely my cd rom. it also says its not installed. when its plugged in
    and it wont read anything.
    it did before.

    and now it wont?

    ive tried restarting the system and such.
    still wont fire it.

    help anyone?

    Do you have a secondary Ide connection port on your motherboard? If you do, get that CD Rom off of the cable that the hard drive is on, and put it on the secondary Ide connection, as a master, if you can.

    If you can't, make sure that you set the CD ROM as a slave?

    If it still fails to work, in Device Manager, right click on the drive (unknown device), uninstall it, and reboot. See if it shows.
