I burned an .ISO onto a CD-RW and all the files seem to be there but my PS2 says the disc could not be read. Does it have to be CD-R?
What about the DVD backups? RWs work for them as well?
And is DVD+ or DVD- better?

    Cheers

Do you have a mod chip in your system or are you using some kind of swap method such as swap magic? I would stick to using cd-r and dvd- or +r depending on your version. If you have a version 1-6 ps2, then use -r, if you have a ver 7 or higher, + or -r will work fine.

To find out what ver. ps2 you have, if you do not know already, check out, http://www.geocities.com/modchipzone/ps2version.htm

I tried 2 CD-Rs. My PS2 managed, in both cases, to boot the PSX logo, then something entertainment, then SquareSoft (It is Final Fantasy Tactics), but then it goes black. So what is wrong?

Coaster #3: Changed the drive/write speed on 2 places, but it still writes at x32, needless to say, with same results.

Coaster #4: set to write with CloneCD at x1, but it was over in like 2 minutes. This time it tries to read but does even get to the PSX logo.

Any advice before I commit more discs to the bin?

If you are setting the drive speed and it keeps boosting up to 32x that means that your cds will only write at that speed. Try using a different cd. What program are you burning with?

My PS2 (V5/6) won't read DVD-RW's at all, I've used CD-RW's succesfully with testing and update purposes but never tried any game burned on them.

Yeah I meant to say Coaster #3 was by Burn4free, but I forgot. It is the only program that sensibly burns DVDs for me, after trying like 10 of them.

    Problem solved!
I started with a .bin + .cue files
    and converted them to .iso
I read in another thread that this convertion can be a problem, and based on what I know aboout converting images, I wanted to believe it.

So I downloaded alcohol 120% which can burn straight from the .cue and now it works!

So I guess it's either MagicISO itself or (all)conversions are shaky.

Thank you guys for your help.
