Changing motherboard question....(sorry. long post)....please help.

    It is....I have to download all those updates to get to SP2....but once SP2 is on will it read the rest of the size?

    Also, I seem to be stuck in a loop...I formatted, the disk installs the files, then goes to reboot, but when it does...the CD boots again and does the exact same thing..

    If i take the CD out, i get a boot error.
    If i change boot priority, i get nowhere...

    what gives now?....if anything else can go wrong after this, it probably will....

    I assume you have another computer? If you can, install a bittorrent client on there. I will point you to a copy of Windows XP that I am sure works. If you have an original key then use that, if you don't PM me.

    im sure my copy works, its just i am stuck in this loop...

    I used the recovery console to chkdsk, and it finds a "windows installation to use"...so that is progress....

    Its once i exit that that im stuck back in the loop...

    changing boot priorities in the BIOS just makes the loop shorter...

    grrrr...
