(Had a hard time deciding where to post this question. I wanted to post it in the DVD-media forum, since it has to do with checking media for errors. But the DVD-media forum description says something like "no software questions allowed".)

I've gotten anal about checking my burns for CRC read errors before I file them away and delete the files on my hard drive. I've been using dvdinfopro for this, but it seems to be a bit flakey and crashes too easily when running "in the background." What I mean by that is using it to check a dvd for errors while I continue to use other applications (like what I'm doing right now). That's often a clue that it hit some read errors, but I've known it to crash when there were no errors on the dvd. While I can understand the wisdom of not using the computer to do anything else when [bold]writing[/bold] to a dvd, seems to me that it is not asking too much for a program to [bold]read[/bold] from a dvd without crashing while I do something else.

So I'm looking for alternatives to dvdinfopro for doing crc checks. I know how to search, and have found a couple. But I'm curious what others are using, and if there's a consensus about a favorite or two.
