I have an Xbox with an Xecuter chip in it with a 120gb hd. I also have a Softmod Xbox with it's original tiny hd. Don't ask why, but I want to take the 120gb hd out of the chipped xbox and put it in the softmod xbox. Has anyone done this or heard of it being done?

My main question is: Can I get away with just transferring my /c, /e, /f, etc folders from one hd to the other? or do I have to go through the setup dealio using xboxhdm?

no because it wont boot the drive because of the eeprom. you will need to use xboxhdm to get your files onto the drive then lock it and put it in the xbox.

    Here are your easy options:
    1. FTP your 120GB contents to your PC (hopfully with > 120 GB free space).
Then use XBHDM to upgrade your softmodded xbox with the 120GB drive.

    2. Unlock your 120 GB HD.
Take the chip out of your chipped box, put it into the new box.
Put the 120 GB drive into your new box.
Reinstall the retail M$ dash and save the softmod files into your gamesave directory.
    Lock the drive.
Take the chip out or run it with the chip disabled.
    Do the soft mod.
Take the chip out and put it back into the original box.

All this to save $10 on not buying a chip?
