    wow :)

    one thing I learned is ... save all your registry keys, activation codes, etc on a disc.

    I accidently deleted the wrong partition once during a reformat and lost 20gigs of data ... recovered all of it, except my keys. luckily I had saved my keys on a second pc.

    andmerr,

    the way I understood it is ... if you have a deleted partion and have not formatted on top of it, it is possible to recover your data.

    flip the problem i've got is this, the header went and i get a lot of noise from the drive but cant acccess the data.I'm struck.I have had to start from scratch with a new hard drive .

    What do i do next? or where do i start? as the data on the drive was like this years tax return.

    @andmerr,

    I'm not sure, that is a different situation than what I had.

    You can try to search for data recovery programs. I would start a new thread in maybe other pc hardware of all other topics to see if anyone else has a suggestions.

    The program I used to recover my data was Stellar Phoenix.
