Hi i have clone dvd and i copy the dvd required to the computer, but when i try to copy the file to the dvd-r, and error comes up:

Writing to video DVD was not successful:
    DVD Write error (WriteDVD 9)
A DVD write error has occured, probably caused by a bad medium
Please replace the medium and try again.

I am a newbie, what does this mean, what is a medium?

Any suggestions? I am using dvd-r's if that helps.

    Many thanks

    Matt

    Matt,

Bad medium means your disc is dirty, has scratches or is a cheap disc :(

Try upgrading to a top-of-the-line name brand disc.

Lets rip with DVD Decrypter, then take all of your files in a VIDEO_TS folder (spelled like that, all caps) then go to CloneDVD and you should be fine :)

I had these error too. If you use DVD-RW you won't have this problem. A firmware update should be made. !

With CloneDVD, use AnyDVD to decrypt the DVD and then CloneDVD to transcode and write to the DVD.

It sounds like your DVD media (disc) is bad, probs cheap DVD media. Try getting good quality media like Ritek G03/G04 discs. Also, update to the latest version of CloneDVD, this might solve the problem!

I had this same problem just last week.
I cannot tell what caused it, but here is what I did to fix it.
    WinME OS.
Reinstall your ASPI layer (4 files) & reinstall CloneDVD.
Writing to DVD+R & DVD-R disks is fine again.

I have 8 out of 50 Verbatim's that are bad and will not read.

All I can say is - That's really surprising !

I use both Verbatim and the Ritek G04's - any coasters are as a result of software not media :-0

The biggest offender being DVD Decrypter :-(

Could it be that the file was not recoded to fit on a standard DVD-5 disc? The error is:

    "DVD Write error (WriteDVD 9)
A DVD write error has occured, probably caused by a bad medium
Please replace the medium and try again."

DVD clone recognizes that a "too large" file cannot be written on a standard disc.

For packet writing or read+write, you may want to try Nero InCD.

Sorry for the late reply. I've been on the road.
I was attempting to record with a stand-alone Sony RDR-GX7

    barn.door,

Nero will read them just fine - much like writing a book, you don't require the person who wrote it to read it - anyone can read it :)

barn.door, in that other thread, I told you the exact same thing, get rid of Roxio - why don't you put yourself in my shoes, I try to tell you something which will help and you not only refuse to do it but, you continue to post threads complaining about your troubles - still never doing that which will end your difficulties -

You certainly have wasted my time, haven't you ? Thinking about it now, it seems that you really never appreciated anything I’ve tried to do for you in my own free time, I’m pretty much of a scum-sucking bottom feeder that you wouldn’t even step on because your shoes might get dirty - I can’t imagine you to have any friends, you must be a very lonely person -

My vote would be to expel you from our Club, you don’t deserve to be around descent people -

    Sometimes people are lazy changing.

Nero InCD won't support old Roxio rewritable -RWs (that's 4 years ago). I think now every manufacturers adopts the same version of UDF. You should be safe to switch. Anyway it doesn't hurt to give InCD a try.

    Pete, Mate,
D'ont be to hard on yoursef,
I love "scum-sucking bottom feeders" even your self who has been so helpfuland supportive.
I'm just going with what works best on my system, if nero worked without a prob for me no one would be happier than myself, i would be uninstalling that nasty old Roxio, and having a shortcut to the latest Nero centre stage on my desktop,
Just a couple of things tho-
read the thread after yours, then do a search of these forums for the keywords "Nero, Burning & Problem(s)"
If i did change 2 nero i'd copy all my RW's onto the HDD & then re-burn.
    c ya

    barn.door,

[bold]The complaint was in regards to your "DOUBLE POSTING" - complaining on 2 different threads about the same problem,[/bold] and me, stupid enough to answer BOTH of your questions with the same answer - Instead of making you terminate one of your threads as I should have done, I got pissed instead - in the future, should I find you trying that again, I'll just Post you with a Warning -

    Pete

You shouldn’t flatter yourself, it’s never about someone following anyone’s suggestions. That’s what we do here - we offer suggestions - do what you want with the information - we don’t care - just don’t use another thread to ask the same question.

    Nymp,

Go to this website for more information:
    http://radified.com/Files/
It has links to others, where you can get the files and information on where to install them and which ones are needed depending on your OS.
