I have this computer... gateway g6-266... and i installed a new o.s. on the computer after formatting and when i brought it up i cant change the resolution or bit depth. it stays 16 and 640 by 480 or something like that and i tried several procedures to get new drivers but cant find the right ones. i have windows ME on it and i even tried the gateway site for info on it and i still didnt get the correct driver. And i would normally look at the video card in the comp, but it just is attached to the motherboard and i dont know what card it is to get the manufacturers drivers. If anyone can help i would surely appreciate it. Thanks! duboy1
I have the CD for my Gateway that is about the same model as the computer i am working with and i don't have the cd for the computer im working with. I went into the files on the disk of mine and found the display adapters but no drivers worked. Any ideas? Thanks
try this link, download & install the file http://support.gateway.com/support/drivers/getFile.asp?id=14624&uid=72648963. this is your video chip, see if on your cd Chromatic Research's MPACT-2 Media processor
I tried to install it and it said that there was a compatibility issue with it so it wouldnt install. So then i searched around after you telling me it was MPACT as my video processor, and found the install driver for upgraded video from driverguide.com. So thanks for the info you gave me!
