I got 2 busted ps3 from 2 friends. They are supposed to have different problems. One of them simply wouldn't read discs, still loaded the menu and all that. The other wasn't getting any power at all. I took the blu ray drive from the "no power" one and stuck it in the other but it's still not working. It does sound better, like it's actually trying. Any ideas? Am I doing something wrong?

look up the years of the 2 ps3 on the net. Sony was looking around for the cheapest parts so it may not be compatible.

I'd try putting the PSU from the "dead drive" PS3 into the "no power" PS3. No messing around with the drive that way.
