I have tried Dr. DivX and Xilisoft DVD Ripper Platinum 4 and had the same problem with both.

I used DVD Decrypter to save .vob files to my hdd, I selected no file splitting. When i select the files to convert to DivX and then start the process, after about 2 or 3 minutes my computer freezes, no mouse movement, ctrl+alt+del doesn't work, nothing except shutting of the power changes this.

I am running an AMD 1.7 Ghz, 1gb ddr ram,

I am going to try AutoGK 2.4 and see if it works, but i am not too optimistic right now....any help peeps???

Sounds like a hardware problem. You might want to try running some stress tests and see if they cause the same problem.
