I'm having a computer issue, when i start my computer it boots up fine an d then after my bottom tool bar is down loading it freezes up. All the processes in the bottom avg, zone alarm etc are moving and my mouse works but im not able to close anything? I finally got it booted and when i went to get online in the Google search bar my numbers didn't work but they did in the address bar and in the address bar when i hit a W it closed the internet? I pulled task manger and my cpu usage is running very low like 2% and also im getting windows system failure my computer will not go into standby it is not a old computer just over a year any help would be greatly appreciated.
Greetings: Sounds like you may also have a Trojan of some sort, I would recommend restarting in safe mode, then from start-run "msconfig" and uncheck everything in startup. Run AVG in safemode and also spybot to verifly you don't have a virus/trojan. Also go into control panel- administrative tools -event viewer and check for any errors there. Consider getting rid of Zone Alarm and getting a hardware firewall instead- Zone can be very buggy. Also if you are still having problems download Hijackthis and post your system logs for review.
Hello, I'm very new to this any need like dummy proof walk through i went to the event viewer and see lots or errors. But I'm not sure what to do or what they mean, Also I started in safe mode and stopped all processes that run at start up I'm not sure what a hardware firewall is? Please help
No problem, 2 things: With your errors in event viewer double click an error/or right click-properties to see more information - to the left side you will see 2 arrows one up one down, then right below that is an icon for copy. Do that for each one (of a type) not all of the same and paste them here or look them up in yahoo by the event id number for information about the problems, (its not uncommon to have errors here so don't worry yet.) When you started in safemode did you run avg and spybot (any problems?) When you restarted after removing all the startup items (any problems?) Did you try the restore point? Zonealarm is called a software firewall, while it is free and works well in my experience it can be very buggy at times, a hardware firewall usually comes with a router it is more complex but offers better protection and less headache with software conflicts. If you get alot of this error, try removing and reinstalling myspaceim. some Trojans mask IM programs like this for sending data, if you don't recall installing it or don't need it, remove it. Not an unusual error when you computer shutdowns or hangs. Try disabling automatic standby in bitcomet to stop the request. I don't see anything outstanding that would say you have a hardware failure either..You didn't respond to my other questions in last post?
i did run avg and spybot in safe mode and it found a backdoor generic trojan. Also i removed myspace im and firefox and returned to using the latest version of internet explorer. any other suggestion as things to do to help with the performance of my computer
