    Hey

My mates computer resets itself right after it gets to around the logging in stage. Once or twice it loaded the start bar and desktop icons but right after that it just resets and loops indefinitely.

We tried some stuff with the windows xp home disc but there was no repair functionality listed.

I think it might be the boot.ini but I'm no expert. What would be the easier way to fix this problem without formatting.

    Thanks a lot.

    If this is windows xp.
Download the demo of "paragon justboot corrector" , (burn the file to a cd) . Now use that to boot up the computer.
When it boot ups, check what the drive letters on your system partition are. On most default installations it needs to c: drive.
If any maintenance was done on the computer (partitoning, imagining)it might have affected the registry.
When the computer goes into a loop close to the login screen, it's a sign that registry cannot find the next startup files it needs. When the drive letter is changed it causes this problem.

    changing drive letters using freeware.
