I just got a brand new Thinkpad t61 and I am having trouble browsing via my wifi network. I get a local ip from my router and can connect to my router via wireless, but i cant browse or transmit any data. Ive tried all the other laptops on my network and they work perfectly. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

have you already tried renewing your ip?
open run, type in cmd, when there type in ipconfig\renew

    Hopefully that works for you.

have tried several times... I had to Turn off my SSID broadcast and just leave my network open. It seems a problem with the WPA encryption

Not being able to browse the internet is usually due to a firewall restriction or a DNS resolution issue. I assume if the rest can browse it's not the firewall.

Try switching back to your original configuration and running nslookup from the command prompt.

    nslookup www.yahoo.com

    Does it resolve?

It does resolve but when you ping the name the ping times out?

It sounds like your router might be using passthrough resolution. This means that your router forwards DNS request to it's DNS servers(usually your ISP's) for resolution. It's possible that your ping (ICMP) packets are blocked or you actually have a firwall routing issue. I would try giving that workstation a static IP and see if the results are different.

Does it work using a wired connection?

It does work when you shut off wireless encryption?

From a command promtp run an "ipconfig /all" and a "route print"

Post the results here or PM me

It works perfectly with a wired connect. Its working perfectly when i turned off my encryption. I will try to set it back to WPA encryption and post the results.
