Can anyone tell me what is the best converter out there? I would like one that is easy to use, allows for 2 pass, multichannel sound, and gives GREAT quality picture.
Does anyone know? I need it to convert dvd, mpeg, or vob to avi.
I hope I am on the correct forum for this question.
    Thank you

    AutoGK.
Select the relevant .ifo file for DVD rips.
Use 'Custom' output size for two pass;use 'Advanced Settings' to select original audio.

I second the vote for AutoGK. Mainly because it resizes and crops more cleverly than most other programs (no aspect ratio distortion) and because it tells you what the quality will be. If you need to stick to a particular file size it'll also adjust the resolution and resize method etc to give you the best quality for the file size.

Personally, I select both a fixed width and file size and let AutoGK run it's compression test. I aim for 70% to 75%. If the result of the compression test doesn't fall within that range I adjust the file size and start again.

If you want 100% compatibility with all AVI capable DVD players, select the ESS hardware compatibility option when you install AutoGK. Or alternatively you can change it by opening the hidden options page (CTRL+F9). Also the maximum width to use under Advanced Options for DVD player compatibility would need to be 720.
