    Help please!

I am a total newbie and have just started downloading some films, problem is I have downloaded some .avi files and they will not play, I get the error message when using windows media player saying " A decompresor was found for this file but would not work"
I have tried other media players but with no sucess,
I also have some .mpeg files that do work what is the easisest way to convert .avi to .mpeg if possible?

    Thanks
    Mark

Do you have the divx codec installed?

you can get it from http:\\www.divx.com

install the codec and it should play fine

He probably has the codec, as the software said it was found but would not work. You probablu have a duff file d/led from Kazza. If you find that d/ling the codecs works and still want to convert to MPEG, you need to use software like TMPGEnc.

    Good luck.

    Paul.
