What is the best way to go about converting a DivX file into DVD format so that it can be viewed on a stand alone DVD player?

TMPGEnc Plus to convert .avi file to .mpeg

TMPGEnc DVD Author to convert to .vob

(VOB BUP IFO being DVD files)

Yes, I can convert .avi files, but the ones that say they are DivX files cause TMPGEnc to give me an error message saying unsupported file or something like that.

Then you need to install the DivX sodec so that TMPGEnc can understand the file format.

When I use xvid files in tmpgenc plus, I sometime get an error saying "cannot expand memory stream" and blah blah. If you have that problem, i read a post that shows how to fix it. Go to Option, Environmental Setting and under VFAPI plugin, change the priority for the directshowmultimedia file filter to the very top. This works!

Where would I get the DiVX codec for TMPGEnc?

I am trying to convert a DiVX file in TMPGEnc and the wixard is telling me that the output will be over 8GB.

The DiVX file is only 698MB so why would it do this,? Do I have the settings wrong in TMPGEnc?

yes, the wizard in the beginning should help you hit your target file of 4464 mb. Make sure you run the tmpgenc wizard.

I have just used tmpgenc to convert xvid to mpeg2 for dvd. I then used tmpgenc dvd author to make dvd compliant vob files. They stored them in a folder called video ts.

I then used power dvd to view the files and it worked. Does this mean these files can be burned to a dvd. (the original mpeg2 file is larger than it is now after using tmpgenc dvd author. Is this normal, or do these ifo files and the original mpeg2 have to be burnt to dvd+r. thanks for your patience.
