I have some wav, avi, mpeg etc type videos that I want to burn to dvd so I can play it on my dvd that's connectd to my tv. I can copy these to a dvd but it will not play on my home dvd but will work on the computer dvd. What do I need to make this happen? Is there special software, if so what is the best or where do Iget it. I'm pretty new at this converting thing, but Ido own DVDXCOPY Platinum.

First, encode your files in mpeg form (mpeg-1 for VCDs and mpeg-2 for SVCD and DVDs), then compile a (S)VCD with those file (I don't suggest to make a DVD with a low-quality AVI file).
There is plenty of guides in http://www.afterdawn.com/guides/ or a VCD guide (the simplest and my favorite) in the sticky thread http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/110106 .

A suggestion: some programs (like Nero) make drectly a (S)VCD from an AVI. Don't use them. The rule is: convert the files fist (maybe splitting the output file in more CDs, for instance movie-CD1.mpg and movie-cd2.mpg), make a (S)VCD later.
