First rip the movie to your hard drive , then use one of these programs.

AuroGk is reported to have A/V sync problems sometimes.
Never heard any issues about FairUseWizard. To use it, rip with DVDFab Decrypter and save as an ISO to hard drive.

    AutoGK. http://www.afterdawn.com/guides/archive/dvd_to_avi_autogk.cfm

    FairUseWizard

    Freez Ripper

    StaxRip

    They are all free!!
There is probably another half a dozen of free ones, but these should do it.

    1) Rip with dvdfabhddecrypter free fro www.dvdfab.com
    2) convert to avi with winavi (not free)
