it's not set in your graphics control panel, it's in the game options. It'll vary for each game.

    Thanks for your feed back.

    I have another question.

    Whats best?

Packard bell - Pentium Dual core E2140, 1.6GHz clock speed - 800MHz Bus and 1Mb Cace and ATI Xpress 1100 Graphic card

    Or

    Dell - AMD Live Athlon 64 X2 Dual core 5000+, 2048Mb Ram, 256MB NVIIDA Geforce 83000GS Turbo.

    Cheers guys.

The Dell AMD system, without question. The Pentium Es may be good CPUs, but the 5000+ is still better than the E2140, and the 8300GS although still very slow, is a better graphics card than the X1100.

Yeah it's a better system. What's it being used for? The 8300GS isn't exactly a gaming-grade graphics card...

It's mainly for home video editing and photo's and may be some older not so heavy graphic games.

I am getting an overall slow gaming performance for the game Company of Heroes: Opposing Fronts. But, sometimes the game runs extremely fast and sometimes slow. Is there a way to fix this problem? Here are my specifications for my PC:

    Motherboard: ASUS P5P800-VM

Video Card: Radeon X1950 Pro 512MB AGP Shader 3.0

    RAM: 2.0 GB

CPU: 3.4 GHZ Intel Pentium D 2 processors

    Sound Card: Sound Max

    OS: Windows XP Home

If i get another gigabyte of RAM, will i be able to play this game faster? Thanks!

Depends what sort of settings you're on. CoH does use a lot of memory, but I'm not sure it's that much. When you say it slows down and speeds up, is that just the frame rate or does the actual gameplay vary?

Well, I configured the settings for Company of Heroes: Opposing Fronts to all high and the best. But, whenever I play most parts are really fast and just little or some parts are extremely slow. For the most part, it is fast. I also used the performance test and the frames per rate were 80. According to the test, this was a great frame rate. However, when I use the automatic button to configure my settings for the game, the game is still as slow. It seems that the performance will never change even though i change the settings to extremely low. Is there a way to fix this? Since I already have 2 gb of RAM, is it possible to get 2 more gb of RAM that is compatible with my mother board? Thanks!

4x1GB sticks may work, but XP can only see 3GB of RAM anyway, so I don't know how much of an effect it'll have.

will the extra gb of ram fix my performance problem? Because, I have only little parts of the game that have reallys low performance. Or will I have to get a new cpu? Also, I am sure my video card is enough to play company of heroes: oppsing fronts. Thanks!

I honestly couldn't say, there's nothing in your system specs that suggests you should have issues.

Just adding in my 2 cents. I would call the Pentium D disrecommended. If you are going to build a cheap system get a Pentium Dual-Core instead. They overclock like Core 2 Duo's and will give you very good performance with none of the heat issues of the Pentium D's.

EDIT: This will easily take you to 3.2 Ghz on a good motherboard. In fact at 3.2 Ghz it will beat out a E6750 at 2.66 Ghz!
