cpu upgrade help

    I want to upgrade my computers cpu but i need to know that if i get a chip that mtches the same amount of pins my motherboard has will it work

    MY PC
    1.5Gz pentium 4
    I want to get a 2.9Gz chip in it any ideas anyone

    You have to make sure your motherboard will be able to support that kind of chip.

    Do you have your motherboards model number? Knowing that we can check and see what chips your board can support like datatrek said.

    Grab CPUz (http://www.cpuid.com) and check the package information
