Creating a GIF from a video file

    Does any one know good free software where I can make a GIF file from video I take from a DVD?

    As a matter of fact, I'd like to know a little more on Gif making myself. After a dig around, I stumbled upon Movies 13 it's a freebie...which is very handy. I havn't devoted too much time to it's workings as yet, but it may suit your needs at this point.

    one problem....i have some video clips that is not the right file format that imageready uses.....what movie files can IR convert.....?

    They are Windows Media Audio/Video, AVI, MPEG4 and FLV

    Well, I presume Imageready takes avi files.. so what trouble do you have when you import those avis into it?
    Also, flvs need to be converted..
    Choose form any of these
    As for wmv files.. those should be converted also.. You can find info on that on AfterDawn.

    What error are you getting trying to import the avis/mpeg4s?

    most of my movies are WMV.........what can I do to convert these to avi?....those are what I am having trouble with
