Check the Guides and Software link at the top of the page. :)

if you really like xcopy and want to continue using it you can get dvd43 or anydvd. these two programs simply run in the background and automatically crack CSS copy protection upon inserting a protected dvd. but dvddecrypter in my opinion is the best ripping software out there, and its free..

Yes, made region free. I bet home dvd player needs region code.

As for media, huh? what do mean by media? Type of blank? will check out Anydvd. Thanks for all your help.

That could be your problem. Memorex is usually frowned upon around here. Do a search on memorex and you'll see all the problems it has caused. They buy their media from several different manufactures some good some bad and you never know what you're going to get from batch to batch. Try some good proven quality media. Taiyo Yuden is the best but Maxell, Verbatum datalife plus, Ricohjpn, and TDK are usually good also. Stay away from memorex and retail store brand name (staples, comp usa, etc.) media.

Also you might want to try some dvd-r media since it is more compatable with earlier stand-alone dvd players.

Thanks Mort, will look into this and try other media. I know from experience that this is true with CDR media and only stands to reason. Tried changing region code to 1, but made no difference. Should the region code matter?

Anydvd should automatically make it region free and you can check the region free box in dvd shrink.
