I have lots of video files around 700mb which i want cut to around 300mb. But when i cut them using nero 7 the files end up with more mbs in them, is there a way to cut these files and keeping the size the same or smaller?

What type of files were these initially: mpeg1, mpeg2, xvid/divx inside an AVI container, etc.?

If you have mpeg4s inside an AVI container, they may be transcoded into mpeg2 by Nerovision when you edit them and that's why the file sizes are increased.

I'd use VirtualDub (free) for editing AVIs if that's what you have? In VirtualDub after editing, select Direct Stream Copy under the Video menu and Save as AVI under the File menu and you'll be golden.
