    Hi!

I'm having trouble buring a DVD Data Disc. After clicking burn it runs, but doesn't go past 1% before failing. I've unistalled/reinstalled, tried different files, different Dvds...& Nothing! I've compared all my logs and they are all the same.

    Any idea??

    Thank You!

    Mary

Your DMAs are off for both your CD/DVD drives. Do you know how to turn them back on?

    Device Manager-IDE controller(secondary)-Properties-Advanced-DMA if available.
    http://www.microsoft.com/whdc/device/storage/ide-dma.mspx

This is a little strange, I have not seen it before. You also have a line for setting it to DVD-ROM, which is normal.

I can't tell from looking, but what speed is your media rated for?

I am not a Nero 6 user, so I can't comment about whether you need a Nero Update or not.

    Hi Saltgrass!

I've turned on the DMAs. I'm burning @ 4.2 Speed. I've ungraded my Nero.

Tried again & got the same thing.

    Thanks 4 trying!

    Any other ideas?

The first package I get 'page cannot be displayed.' (Help, Plz?-I found it-Thanks! Going to give it another try...) I've updated the 2nd package.I'm using Maxell Dvds.I've used both Maxell & Memorex Dvds in the past.

I asked about the speed rating on your media because with an older DVD burner like that, you may need media rated at a lower speed. If you aren't using some like that, you might try.

Have you figured out why the Book Type trying to set to DVD+RW. I don't remember how my drive worked, but Nero may have a different setting and you could try just leaving the book type alone to test.

I am pretty sure that if you leave your burner set to booktype (auto) then it will only do so on +R discs, ignoring -R and RW discs.

Failure again @ the same point!!

    Hi, Gwen!

I've always used Memorex. & Have never had a problem, I still have several left. So I'm really hoping that's not it. I will have to switch if it is, but for now..I'm stuck looking for a different solution.

    Thanks!

    Saltgrass,

4.2 is the only option I have, that I see. Try what?

Booktype? I'm not understanding what u mean by that?

    Thanks 4 all your help!

Heres a thread you should read about memorex, dont concern yourself with the booktype reference.

Memorex are horrible discs, you may be lucky and get some to work and others fail miserably, it's their poor quality production by a company known as CMC Magnetics.....most members at AD will warn you against using these discs. Verbatims are VERY reliable.

If you've implemented the recommendations then you can probably be certain it's your memorex.

    Sorry, heres the thread
