    What is DC++?
DC++ announces the freedom to share! DC++ is an open source client for Windows for the Direct Connect network. Direct Connect allows you to share files over the Internet without restrictions or limits. The client is completely free of advertisements and has a nice, easy to use interface. Firewall and router support is integrated and it is easy and convenient to use functionality like multi-hub connections, auto-connections and resuming of downloads.

    How do I get it?
    There are many clients:
Default: The very basic original client.
DCPlusPLus: Modded version of the original, more user friendly
ApexDC++: Probably the most user friendly client. Great for beginners.

    Setting up!
This set up is based off ApexDC++.

    1. Open ApexDC++ and go to File --> Settings --> Connection Settings

    2. Select a connection setting.
-Direct Connection: Select when you connect directly to the internet.
-Firewall with UDnP: Select if your router supports UDnP.
-Firewall with manual port forwarding: Select if you have forwarded your own ports.
-Firewall(passive, worst case)*: Select if you cannot open ports.
    * if passive, your setup is complete.

    3. Type your forwarded ports into the boxes labeled TCP and UDP
You can leave the TLS box empty.

    4. Click the 'Sharing' setting.
Browse for and select the files in which you wish to share.

    Press the 'General' setting.
Type in a user name. The remaining boxes can be left blank.

    Press 'Ok'
    Your setup is complete.

    Using DC++

    Press the 'Public Hubs' button.
Found in the top left corner.

Select a hub according to your interests.
Once the list loads, look through the hub descriptions, and find one that has what you want.

Follow the hubs instructions for registering.

PM Nephilim, and ask him to add it to the tutorials.
I doubt they'll sticky this on it's own.

Nice tut for the newbies though, too bad good hubs are scarcely found.

I am assuming we are aloud to bump threads?

I'm assuming you're an idiot if you think that.
Either that, or you never read the forum rules, to which end i would have to tell you to go do that quickly.
And the word you where looking for is "allowed" X)

I am sorry, I did not completely read through the forum rules. My mistake.

Just wondering, If no bumping is allowed, then how can one keep a topic on the first page?

You don't, unless it gets stickied.
Which leads back to my original point, PM'ing Nephilim about this thread, so it can get included in the guides sticky, because on it's own, it's not worth the prime real estate type space that is the first page.
