i recently decided to give dc a try, it seems cool and all but every single file i try to get says no slots available or something, its annoying because i wait for the list to download only to have nothing a few minutes later. Is there any client/program that allows you to view how many slots are open to the user i am connected to?

    thanks in advance

I wouldn't recommend using DC++ for downloading. I would recommend either using DCStrong or PeerWeb. DC++ only allows you to download from one user per file. The other two I mentions download parts from multiple users. I haven't used this type of p2p since I moved out of the dorm, hopefully not that much has changed in a year.

I don't remember if DC++ shows how many slots the people have available or not because I mostly used PeerWeb and DCStrong. I know one of them showed how many slots the user had.
