Definition needed MP3 WMA WAV

Hello

I am looking for a little help on audio extensions, MP3 WMA WAV
My ripping software is asking which one i want to rip in, does it matter and if so which one has the most compatabilty with players.
Once it is ripped in that expension i an gathering it will burn in that expension ?
