   My friend has a Dell Inspiron 570 that won't boot. Running Win7. The message says that the hard drive can't be found. I put a different motherboard in it from another Dell and same message.
   
   Any help greatly appreciated. I'm a relative newbie so simple is good!

   2 different motherboards saying the same thing means the hard drive is dead. sata or ide hard drive?

   attach that drive to your computer as long as has sata but as secondary drive not boot drive to see what happens if bios & windows sees the drive.
