I got these disks called Verbatim DVD-R. Is this safe to use?

Also if i use DVD+R, will it mess up the laser?

    Thanks

I think the media type you use depends on what your Ps2 prefers. I have a V7 PS2 and I use + media I've had no problems and the laser still works great.

    they should be fine
never heard of dvd+r messing up the laser.
if you use dvd-r and they work, you need not to worry about using dvd+r,besides dvd-r are generally slighty cheaper.
