My mother in law has a very old LG DVD player. It has never recognised any backup dvdś that I have burnt but plays the originals just fine. The backups play in all other dvd players Ie tried without a problem.
I just happened to be using Ubuntu & my wife asked me to back up a new dvd for her. I did this using K9Copy & K3b in Linux. Whoa & behold, the backed up version played in my mother-in-lawś player no problem. I have tried some more & they all work! Does anyone understand why this is? Does K3B burn something that Nero, DVD Copy, Deepburner, etc dont? These are being done on the same dual boot system so the issue isnt hardware related.

    intersting...

were the discs used the same brand and more important same dye code?

did you booktype the disc if it were +R

may want to try that that with windows as it makes the disc dvd-rom more compatible in players.
