My son plays alot of sports and I am tired of using my digital camera to try to catch action shots. Are there any camcorders that allow you to take a movie a pick out a frame to turn into a jpg with the same quality as a digital camera? If they can, what do I look for to get the best quality image.

Unfortunetally, NTSC DV uses a pixel resolution of 720x480, which really isn't suitable for extracting quality stills. Plus, NTSC video is interlaced (capturing only half an image at a time), so often times, still frames will have very funny looking edges to them (ESPECIALLY with a lot of motion).

So you're really better off using your digital still cam. Sorry.
