Recently I havent been able to run a dvd or cd from my computer by just putting it in. when i put in a disc, nothing happens. I then went into My computer and tried the open the disc but it tells me to insert a disc into the drive. The only way i can get a disc to open and run is to open up my dvdripping software (RipIt4Me). When i start the program i can open the disc and run it. anybody know how to fix this?

i have the same problem with my cd drive. it says that the region thingy is maxed out so what i do is use a program called

    dvd region free

no idea if there are internet links to it soz

if this is you case, either get this program or a new cd drive!

MSOV1986 , you might try uninstalling the drive in device manager then reboot and windows will pick the drive backup and reinstall it and see if that helps
