Here's my problem... I've been burning movies to disc for years. I use a Pioneer DVD recorder and lately Nero. I've used other DVD programs such as DVD X Copy and DVD Decrypter, etc. I've always used the same DVDs (Ritek's).. But for the last 2 weeks EVERY dvd I try to burn I get the same thing when I go to watch it.
    "Playback Error" "Disc Error"
"Disc Feature may not be available"

It tells me it has successfully burned everytime, unless I have verify written data on, then it fails. I've tried dropping my burn speed. I've tried to uninstall all other programs, including Nero. I've re-installed. I've re-burned. I've gone through close to 12 DVDs in the process. And not one is working. I've tried multiple DVD players also. I'm not sure exactly when the problem started since I don't normally watch my movies, right away. But It's been atleast 2 weeks.

Here's a copy of my log:

    Hi GrimaceX
The 'queue again later' bit in the log - I'm not really sure why that shows in logs burning w/ a Pioneer. It shows the same thing in mine when I burn w/ a pioneer but all is ok.

I think the biggest problem is the Pioneer is on it's way out. It's pretty old in burner years and the laser is probably dying. Reason the discs wouldn't play back in a player or you get a data verification error.

You can try cleaning the lens with some canned air or a dvd lens cleaner but I think your best bet is to buy a new burner. They are so much cheaper now.

I'll give the Duster a try and hopefully all-is-well.. The last few days I've clean a bunch of my computer, registry, processes, etc.. I'm gonna give another go probably tomorrow night and hope for the best. Otherwise, I might be looking into a newer drive.. :-( Any suggestions?

Sorry, one more question.. What's the word on Blu-Ray burners? If am going to upgrade my drive, I'd like it if I could burn 25+Gbs on 1 disc. It'd sure help when I do my backups.

If the dusting doesn't do it - look at another Pioneer or LiteOn.
Depending where you buy one - run around $40 (US)
Both are good. Even though this Pioneer may be dying look how long it's lasted - longer then other burners might have.

Hmmm Blu-Ray - still several hundred bucks out of my league :) Plus a blank disc alone is like $25 + Yikes - one helluva costly coaster if it fails.

Before you go out and buy a new burner listen to this. I have the same problem, however, when I play the movie in my modded xbox and in my newer dvd player it works great. When I put it in my little cheap dvd player i get the same error message. So i think the problem may be in your player

I've tried it on a Denon DVD-757 DVD Player and also Denon DVD-715. I had no problems at all 3 weeks ago. I've gone through 100s of movies with never a problem. Then all of a sudden nothing. Makes me think it's a software conflict instead of a hardware problem. Also, The error code says "Playback feature may not be available" like Nero is finalizing the disc correctly or something, since the disc does have data on it. I thinking maybe DVD XCopy had a role in this. Hrmm..

Try to play it back in the Pioneer - if the disc isn't finalized even though a player may not play it the drive usually will.
I'm still leaning towards the drive especially from your previous that other burn programs have the same problem (maybe I misread that you;ve used others

Try ImgBurn. It's the updated burn engine of Decrypter. Use the build mode to add the video_ts folder to burn. For image files just use the write mode.
