    i can't really assist you with the method you are trying to use because i don't even know what the cogswap method is, but i can give you an alternative, the big ps2 can be used as a fliptop sort to speak w/o actually having a flip top on it, you will need to unscrew all the screws take lid off and then unscrew the four screws on the cd/dvd cover, now if u put loader disc in then move your top and remove disc tray cover to remove loader disc and replace w/ the game then put the top back on (make sure the lil whtie magenet is there) it will work like that, its a lil more pain but it does work
