divx not working

hi don't really know how to use this new stuff, just downloaded divx off their site but when i try to play another movie from either stage6 or off other sites it buffers fine but when it starts i see no picture but can hear the sound. what should i do? i know it has somthing to do with codec(not sure)

What player do you use?
You could download a codec package, like Storm Codec pack or K-lite, or download VLC player.

 

i have no idea all i did is download divx off the site

 

ok i downloaded vlc but what do i do with the divx web player do i remove it inored for the vlc player to work

Sorry, I misread your post...I thought you downloaded a divx video...
Did you just download the Divx player or also the Divx codec?

right got the codec 6.8 along with the web player off the site but still only the sound comes no picture

worked once but when retested the picture gone again
