What players are you using to play your movies?

Try WMP 6.4 if you havent already. Or the zoomplayer. The divx codec is uses a lot of system resources to decode movies so if you have a relatively slow computer, you might want to use the FFDShow filter to decode your divx and xvid movies.

Or it might be the files that were encoded wrong; Have you tried playing them on a different computer? What were the results?

its no longer slow and choppy, but i think the audio is a bit slower than the video (or vice versa, i cant really tell)

i switched to zoom player, and it playes full speed, though the colors are screwed up, as if theres an overlay problem. theres no option in zoomplayer to turn the overlay off.

The problem could be codec related. Have you tried using the FFDshow filter to decode your movies?

i think u might need the Divx G400 2.7 filter
it will solve the sync problem with all players
so u dont have to rely on one player and the colour prob
