I have a Memorex Dual Layer DVD-RW and I've burned 30+ DVD's (with Nero 6) and all of a sudden after using a Sony DVD-R the burns I try fail right before it starts Burning it to the DVD (it transcodes fine). Would having the DMA set to "OFF" be the cause of this? Also, I can not burn even one small jpeg file to a CD-R with this drive anymore (using Nero or using Windows default CD burner). Before I buy a new drive is this fixable?

Normally having DMA "off" would just slow it way down. You should enable DMA though.
What program are you ripping with?
You mention it is transcoding just fine. What program is doing the transcoding?
If you can, please post your last Nero log file:
    C:\Program Files\Ahead\Nero\NeroHistory.log

If you do post your Nero log, make sure to remove your serial number.

If you started getting errors after using Sony DVD-Rs then you may want to try a different brand, Taiyo Yuden, Verbatim or Hitachi Maxell (Made In Japan).
