I've installed the DMS4 EZI Lite perfectly by the install guide, infact after I was unable to boot the flash disc the first time I took the system apart again, removed the mod chip, checked all contacts and reinstalled same problem. If I hold the square button it disables, but from what I've read here that doesn't mean much really, but I'm 99% sure that I have it hooked up correctly. Is there any trick that I'm missing I'm using the file from teamtoxic's website burning with Nero 7 in 4x mode, it could be my cd media I'm using imation cd-r discs. Any other ideas on how to flash this thing? I don't have anyway to do the MC exploit to do it that way as I have no hdd or network cable, all I want the chip for is so I can play custom music on Guitar Hero 2. Please any help I would really love, hell I'll even donate to the person that helps me get this damned thing working right.

Forgot to say that I always get the R.S.O.D. all over disc's work fine, normal PS1&2 games and DVD's with the chip enabled or disabled.

there is no real trick to it.
    1. download and unzip ToxicBIOS
    2. burn the cue file to a CD-R as an image
    3. slap it into the PS2 and reset the machine so the disc boots

It could be the imation discs you use, not sure.

fixed it, it wasn't hooked up right, the clip that goes on the dsp the cable goes in upside down from the rest of the kit, don't know why but looked at it real close under a bright light and saw the pins on the clip itself not the mod chip part are the other way from the other connections.

glad you got it working, hope you enjoy it. Personally i do not care for the Lite version but if all you want is something to play back ups, then it will be fine. I just figure for an extra $10 (pro version) you could have added a built in cheat device, Built in ELF (homebrew) file loader for things like media players, built in support for running an internal hard drive, Support to play DVD9 back ups and probably a few other things i am forgetting.

no, the Lite version doesn't. That is why there are two versions of the chip. One runs on ToxicBIOS (Lite) and the other runs on ToxicOS (Pro) which has more added features.

    ToxicOS Features

All the features provided by ToxicBIOS (PLUS BELOW)
Run PS2 games directly from a IDE HDD. This leads to decreased loading times and makes gaming so much more convenient. Never again will you need to endure those painfully slow loading times!
Integrated cheat device with functionality similar to Action Replay. Supports the use of cheats when playing games from both HDD and discs.
Homebrew ELF launching capabilities. Launch ELF files from memory card, HDD, cdrom and usb mass storage devices.
Dev.olution Flash boot mode, which allows you to copy an ELF file of your choice to the DMS4 flash and have this ELF loaded when the console boots.
Skinnable GUI – select your own wallpaper.
Boot standard discs (PS2, PSX, DVD) from inside ToxicOS (so you dont need to boot movies etc through the native PS2 browser)
Run DVD-9 games from the HDD
48-bit HDD support to enable the use of larger drives
    V12 IDE HDD support
Configuration screen where various settings relating to both the BIOS and OS software can be configured "

    - Support for DVD+R dual layer media
    - Compatible with all PS2 models V1-V14
    - Dev.olution mode (from memory card and HDD)
    - DVD region free, Macrovision removal and green screen fix for the DVD player

    - Fast boot mode for PS2, PSX and DVD movies
    - Support for the HDD browser upgrade on a non-Sony HDD
    - Set default boot mode to: Normal, MC/HDD Dev.olution, Fast Boot
    - Playstation 2 game video fix (Colour Carrier, PAL, NTSC, PAL60), with
    automatic y-position correction
    - Playstation 1 game video fix
    - Enable MegaMemory memory cards without the need for the boot disc
    - Configuration menu where various settings can be manipulated
    - "Toxic" logo displayed at the PS2 logo screen
    - When booting from Dev.olution mode or Fast Boot, games use correct language
    - Modchip disable mode, for online gaming
    - Support for the Codebreaker cheat device
    - 100% boot rate
    - Much, much more to come!

only main diff is really the hard-drive boot, cheating, and fast-boot of elfs, but I don't use a hdd and I don't cheat on games plus wasn't in stock either. Also I have read that you can load ToxicOS on the hdd and it does the same as pro version.

Does this mean that Lite version can't run backups that burnt on DVD9?

    Thank you

I have one more question. If I just need to be able to run backups, what do I need to install? Obviously, I need to flash my chip's BIOS (I'm going to use Team Toxic BIOS). But do I need to install ToxicOS?
By the way, probably I'm going to have the Lite version of DMS4 EZI.

    Thank you.

the lite version runs the DVD9 backups and all you need is the bios installed on the lite the os is for the pro version unless you have a hdd and it's a pain to install without the pro chip

Sorry, but I have more questions. What is the difference between DMS4 EZI and DMS4 EZI S.E.? And will it work on PSTwo (slim) v16? And what's the difference between v15 and v16?
    Thank you.

from what I read the s.e. works on ps2 models from v5 to v15, it may work on v16 it may not I'm not sure if they changed anything or not, you'll just have to do some research on it

The one saving grace that the DMS4 Lite has is that it has dev1/2 mode which will allow you to do everything YES EVERYTHING the DMS4 Pro can. You can boot HDL (boot games from HDD) in dev1/2 mode as well as ULE (file browser/save manager) and SMS as well as all the other junk the DMS4 Pro can do.

I've got a V8 PS2 and I just finished putting a DMS4 Lite SE into it. I've tried using Toxic BIOS (burned as an image in Nero to CD-R) and get the RSOD. Plays normal disks and everything fine, but refuses to do anything with the mod. I've taken the system apart and checked everything, it's all fine and put together painfully step by step with the instructions. For whatever reason it won't work. Any suggestions of common problems that I can check for?

Alright. I'm new to this mod thing, this is my first actually. Would it be possible for a list of each connection and whether or not the blue side of the cable strips is up or down? Or are all the blue sides up with the exception of that one? Wow I sound lame...

I can't remember exactly off the top of my head how the connections are, but if I remember correctly it's the silver towards the white part of the connectors on all but the dsp clip the mod chip part is the same as the rest. I have a new clear case coming sometime this week if you don't figure it out by then I'll tell you exactly how it's set up

Thanks much, I'll give that a shot. If that doesn't work I'll flip everything the other way and try that. I'll post again if it works ^^
