I have a configuration similar to scurvy.
I've got a fliptop with swap magic. I'm interested in playing my ps1 backups I've accumulated over the years.

I've heard you can use the following:

    - Gameshark (retail or demo). Can't find the demo around here and retail is expensive.
    - PS xchange (Is it compatible with ps2?)
    - CDloader with double swap?

    What's the cheapest way ?

    My PS2 is version v4/v5.

psx change does not work on ps2. did you try swap magic then psx change then your backup.

if that doesnt work they only thing to do it buy a games shark or play it on your ps1

I don't think that you could use the cdloader because it works in conjunction with the smd which don't work with ps1 games. I've never tried it though. Anyway, if you are going to get a gameshark make sure you get a version 1 or 2 and not a version 3. I've heard that the people who make the gameshark made it so that it won't boot backups or something like that.

You will need a PS1 GameShark. It must be in PS1 format because it needs the correct boot information.

Just about everywhere I read that you need a PS2 gameshark (version < 3, but not version 3).

Then I read somewhere else you could use Game Shark Lite, which is for Playstation 1...

So, is there a list of what we can use?

ive been using Gameshark Lite to boot PSX backups and imports on my fliptop PS2 for...quite a while now. Never a problem. Cheap too, I paid $4 for my copy, new and sealed at an EB Games.
