Hi I recently got Final Fantasy xiii (this is my second final fantasy game :D) and I love it so far. I first played it on my computer monitor in HD but it was small I have a large tv which is in standard definition but it is bigger :D. Despite the fact that HD is better quality wise I thought that Final Fantasy look amazing in both HD and SD but most people seem to be like its either HD or it is not good. I do not think games graphics should be such a high priority to a gamer... what do you think?

a game that is truly good doesnt need to have amazing graphics to be enjoyed, but it is certainly a plus. it seems that lately that a game can get by with graphics alone, while every other element of it is mediocre, like voice acting and story line. i mean really, aren't video games supposed to be an art form?

Actually in Final Fantasy xiii I noticed that the characters were flawless when talking and the game seems pretty much seamless however those who have played many of the games before thirteen said it seemed like it had a bit too much action since this is my second I did not notice it :/. The story line is some what cloudy in some areas but the game does do a great job of going over the current situation when loading so you are not in the dark. Any way though I do love the game this is not supposed to be a review thread :p so yes games are supposed to be an art form but I do not think they should be treated as the top priority... in some games such as Bioshock it not only has a good action flow but also the environment adds to it a lot. In other games like Portal graphics play a big part but the game itself is also a great demonstration of physics simulation.

you are absolutely right, i just don't think that graphics should be the main priority when it comes to making a game. i am not exactly an expert when it comes to the making of video games, so i cant really judge them for it. As long as they keep making the good ones i will be happy.

I totally don't like it when the only plus for a game is that "it has great graphics". That kind of doesn't matter if the atmosphere sucks, it has no story at all and the single player mode is only two hours long. I buy a game to have fun with it for hours, if I want to be entertained for only two hours or so by great graphics I go and buy me a cinema ticket, that's way cheaper.
Great graphics works for maybe two years, then something better comes along. A game with great story and atmosphere can work for years (best example: Halo 1, they had to polish it a bit and could release it again 10 years later).
