first, i am not a big game player. i normally deal with dvd's(movies) and cd's(music). i have been trying to help a friend make back ups of his ps2 games. the problem is the data control sector of the ps2 disc does not seem to download. or i don't know what files i am supposed to be looking for. since i have very little knowledge of how ps2/x-box consoles operate i have a few questions.
does anyone know if that sector can be read and downloaded to hard drive?
does anyone know if ps2 simply searches for the control sector and then starts the game? or does it check for size parameters as well as the control sector for validation?
ie. if i am able to downdload the data control sector of a ps2/x-box disc, set it to burn at the front of the game data, then overwrite/kill the original sector of the dvd disc that i am going to burn to, would ps2/x-box then read the new disc as an original and play without any other modification.

You MUST have a mod to play backups.
