When backing up a DVD do the sound formats like Dolby Digital or dts recorded as well?
If you record a movie from satelite are these sound formats retained as well?
    Thanks

I've seen broadcasts in Dolby Digital, but I've not seen one in DTS. I must not have been paying attention if they did. ;)

I forgot. DTS is a waste if you don't have the special equipment to play it.

If you record a movie from satelite that is in Dolby Digital 5.1 what you will get is Dolby Digital 2.0 the present dvd recorders will only record DD2.0

    Please note:

It depends on HOW you are recording from satalite.

If you are using an analog capture card, then the audio will be in analogue format (eg PCM-WAV).
