Don't quite understand

    Hi, i was under the impression that divx provided superior compression to mpeg formats. But when i convert my divx avi's to mpeg2 and it retains the same quality it is the same size (or 10% bigger) as the original divx.

    How come? i wouldn't be surprised if the explanation was obvious but i can't think what it is.

    I may be wrong, but I think Divx provides superior compression to MPEG-4. Converting to MPEG-2 probably would increase the size a bit to acheive the same quality. Converting to MPEG-4 would triple the size...
