c4 said today that the new burner brand will be announced soon!
I hope it's one of the many burners I own already, but I doubt it.
Looks like the expected announcement for the drive today has c4evaspeaks.com flooded.
yeah i wish it was one i have, but i know it will not be, ive been racking my brain all day trying to figure out what it could be, and i honestly have no clue.
I don't think it's going to be either of the drives I currently have - Optiarc AD-7240S and Pioneer DVR-219L. I think it could be a Lite-On drive as there are multiple models of the same type of drive and there are supposedly 6 versions of the drive, but that's a shot in the dark really.
well i was thinking that also, but i remember reading something that c4 said about lite-on drives not working well with ap2.5 so that kindve made me think maybe something different, i guess time will tell.
get ready newegg for orders!
Liteon iHAS324B already ordered mine, and you were right newegg was the only place i could find it.
Was this the one you got?

seems this one will work as well, and its cheaper http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16827106289

a lot of people have been linking to http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16827106289 but that model is iHAS124-04 and i dont see it listed on the page you provided.
thanks for the link
iHAS124B – IN TESTING just have to make sure its the B model if you want to be sure it is compatible.
#c4e <c4eva> iXtreme Burner Max firmware will be released this weekend!
#c4e <c4eva> for all models!
is it true that you have to have certain dl media with the drives? if so, i normally get the ones below. will this work?
Any dual layer discs will work in theory, but only Verbatim discs have burned and verified without errors in c4eva's tests (although he doesn't say what other brands he tested) so it's recommended to only use Verbatims. Either MKM-001-00 (2.4X rated) or MKM-003-00 (8X rated) so the discs you linked to are fine as they are MKM-001-00.
The difference between the two, other than the rated speed, is that with this new burning firmware the 001 discs can only be burned at 2.4X, while the 003 discs can be burned at 2.4X or 4X.
Oh yeah, you need to enable a particular setting in ImgBurn too. Go to Tools - Settings... - Write (tab) and check the box next to "Perform OPC Before Write" which performs an optimum power calibration before the actual burn takes place, as that's required to get good burns using this new writing method.
