When you download somethings on Kazaa it asks you to upgrade your DRM components. Is this safe or is it another way for them to spy on you?

Kazaa has nothing to do with DRM, believe me. DRM is encryption made by microsoft. But anyway to answer your question, the DRM is on the file. I think you will be alright if you just accept to get the license, but I would have PeerGuardian running! Microsoft could try to connect. Depending on the type of file, there may be a way to take off the drm. I can probably help you with that if you need.
