    Hi!

I need help quickly! I was given a DVD with an .avi file and I tried to copy it to my desktop but an error message came up saying something about MS-DOS. I also tried to import through the Windows Media Center but it never seemed to finished and stayed on the screen.

Does anyone know how to get the .avi file to my desktop? It is not copy-right protected as it is a video on one of my players workout out and I need to be able to send it as an attachment in emails.

I cannot think of any good reason why it cannot be copied unless the disk it defective.
Does it play on the PC?

    Try loading it into VirtualDubMod.
If it accepts it, click 'Video' > 'Direct Stream Copy' then 'File' > 'Save As..' and give it a new name and save as an AVI to the desktop..
If it can read it from the disk, it should save it.

Yes it does play on the PC.

I found out since the movie is 4 GB, I will not be able to email it to the people I need to because it is too big. Is that correct?

Would it be possible to zip the file to be able to send via email? How would you zip the file after I figure out how to get it onto my computer?

You aren't going to be able to zip a 4GB file down to any reasonable size.
It seems that your PC balks at copying a file of this size
Verify that your hard disk is formatted as NTFS and not FAT32
