Sometimes when I use Nero, my DVD drive will start to click. It clicks at a constant rate and what happens is the encoding rate starts to drop to very low. It happens sometimes during the Analysis of the DVD but it mainly happens during the encoding process. Why does the drive click. Is there a problem with my computer and if so, should I contact the makers and explain to them the situation?

    Hi Swim56530, welcome to aD,

When you're using your DVD burner to read a disc it does tend to get noisy. Reading entails a lot of stops and starts which a DVD ROM does easily but your burner wasn't designed to do as such. Because of this, if you do a lot of DVD Video work, I suggest, if you have the room, pickup a DVD-ROM. They're cherap and save a ton of wear and tear on your burner. If you're short on room, you make do with what you have but, of course we do that in our day-to-day lives, don't we ?

    Cheers,

    Pete
