    i use a LITE-ON DVDRW SOHW-1213S
    i have the firmware updated.
    i insert a DVD+ - r or DVD -r
my computer recognizes it, shows me the options to burn it using the windows folder, itunes, nero etc etc.

i cant burn anything on it using the windows folder, gives me an error.
cant burn any data onto it.

then tried using nero it started the gave me an illegal disc error.

i dont understand if all the programs recognize it i dont know why it cant burn onto it.

so i bought 4 different types od dvds and they all dont work.

i put a blank cd in and nero burns it fine and windows writable folder burns data on it fine

    soo im lost
heres the log file for nero when i get the illegal disc

Are you trying to burn / make copies of illegal software? sounds like it cant burn becasue what your burning is copyrighted. ANyway i cant tell you how to get aroundthat but i can say Doom9.net. ALso try turn the speed down to the lowest, could be the drive you bought is a piece of junk.
